When you want to fill your home with fresh produce, the El Monte, California, area has lots of farmers markets to offer. Stop by one of these spots to do some shopping, pick up a gift, or eat delicious food from a local food truck or vendor.

El Monte Farmers Market

The El Monte Farmers Market is a small but vibrant event that occurs on Thursday evenings. At this family-friendly market, you can buy fresh, local produce to stock up your kitchen. It’s also a great spot to stop for dinner. You can enjoy the live music while you chow down on food from local food trucks. Options include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hibachi.

Location: Main Street between Santa Anita Avenue and Tyler Avenue.

Hours: Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Alhambra Certified Farmers Market

Visit a street full of vendor tents every Sunday morning in Alhambra. This thriving farmers market has a little bit of everything. You can find fresh fruits and veggies alongside other farm items such as meat. Flour, honey, yogurt, and baked goods are also available. Shop in the morning and stop at one of the food vendors to grab some lunch. This location accepts electronic benefit transfer (EBT), Senior Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Farmers Market WIC.

Location: 100 S. Second St., Alhambra, between Main Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

Hours: Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Farmers Market

This rain-or-shine market features fresh produce, succulents and flowers, teas, snacks, and more. Like many other markets in the area, there are also food vendors on site, where you can get delicious, prepared dishes. On the first Friday of each month, you can attend the free “Healthy Cookin'” demonstration, where you can learn how to make nutritious food, try free samples, and nab some delicious recipes.

Location: Cafeteria patio of Kaiser Permanente medical center at 1011 Baldwin Park Blvd. in Baldwin Park.

Hours: Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Monterey Park Farmers Market

The Monterey Park Farmers Market is a fun way to spend a Thursday evening. Listen to live music as you browse the vendors, and pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, seafood, honey, and more. Make sure to factor in time for a stop at the food court for dinner. This market accepts WIC and EBT. Parking is available at the Barnes Park Service Club, which is located at 440 S. McPherrin Ave.

Location: 350 S. McPherrin Ave., Monterey.

Hours: Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rosemead Farmers Market

The seasonal Rosemead Farmers Market runs every Monday night during spring, summer, and fall. Along with locally grown produce, you can also buy succulents, pet apparel, raw honey, and other gifts at this market. The food court includes vendors selling waffles, kettle corn, and tacos. You can find the full list of vendors on the City of Rosemead’s website. EBT customers can use Market Match, and WIC recipients can use their allotted fruit and vegetable allowance here.

Location: Rosemead Park, 4343 Encinita Ave., Rosemead.

Hours: Mondays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., April through November.

Monrovia Street Fair and Market

With mountains in the background, the Monrovia Street Fair and Market is one of the most picturesque locations on this list to visit. Vendors include local farmers selling their produce and local artisans showing off their art, jewelry, and other crafts. The first Friday of each month is Kid’s Night, which includes story time and music for little ones. You’ll also find a few food trucks here selling things such as ice cream.

Location: 700 S. Myrtle Ave., Monrovia.

Hours: Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Temple City Farmers Market

This small farmers market is perfect for a low-key Sunday morning. Get your fresh produce for the week, including eggs, fruits, and vegetables. Flowers, baked goods, and dried fruits are also available from some vendors. While it doesn’t have much in the way of prepared food options, you can find kettle corn and some interesting drinks.

This market provides Market Match, and you can earn up to $15 extra dollars using EBT, Pandemic-EBT, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or Cal-Fresh benefits. Keep in mind that the Market Match you receive here must also be used here. Parking is available on the street.

Location: City Hall Parking Lot, 9701 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City.

Hours: Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Pasadena Certified Farmers Market

This Pasadena staple has been active since 1980. This is a food-only farmer’s market; plenty of farm-grown products are available here, but you won’t find any artisans selling crafts. You can stop here to do your shopping for the week because you can find fresh produce such as meats, eggs, jams, and jellies. This market is open rain or shine. You can attend the smaller market on Tuesday at Villa Parke Center, which usually has about a dozen vendors, or head to Victory Park on Saturdays to shop upward of 60 vendors. EBT is accepted here.

Location: Villa Parke Center at 363 E. Villa St. on Tuesday, and Victory Park in the 2900 block of North Sierra Madre Blvd. on Saturday.

Hours: Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Duarte Farmers Market

Farmers sell their locally grown produce alongside food vendors offering pizza, Mexican, and other cuisines. You’ll also find baked goods and a few sweet treats. This farmer’s market has plenty of parking in the nearby lot and on the street and is within walking distance of many of Duarte’s shops. Plan to have an early dinner while you’re here because the grassy area shaded by trees is a wonderful place to gather and eat.

Location: Santa Teresita parking lot, 819 Buena Vista St., Duarte.

Hours: Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the summer and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the winter.
